Research carried out on behalf of the BACP and Citizens UK by policy and economics consultancy Public First, shows the long term benefit to the taxpayer of access to counselling in all schools is eight times the cost of the investment. This figure rises to a ten-fold return when counselling primary school aged children.

The report also highlights the reductions in referrals to NHS children’s mental health services, declines in truancy, exclusions and youth crime.

The Valley Trust has forty years of experience in delivering counselling in schools and believes that early intervention by highly qualified and experienced psychotherapists is the most effective way to create positive change. The advantages of working in schools are that children and young people do not need a diagnosis to access support and that schools are safe and familiar spaces.
